Other properties to rent in the street where we have our buy to let investment
Having decided to purchase a third buy to let flat and having set up Google Alerts to notify us when information and websites in our target area had added webpages which included our preferred streets, you can imagine our excitement when we received our first Google Alert email.
Unfortunately our excitement was short lived, when we read the Google Alert email only to discover it was notifying us that another property in the street where we currently owned a property was available to rent. The email basically said:
“The Street, Our Town, start of our postcode 1 bedroom flat to rent£325 per month – Marketed by Lettingweb – Keychange …”
and linked to a Zoopla advert that had been posted on eBay by a company letting company which appeared to be located in Edinburgh, some 30 miles from where our flats are located.
The advert basically said:
“Contact xxx directly now on to arrange a viewing or for more information. In good order, this cosy flat is located in quiet, central street, close to local shops, and 3 minutes walk from the High Street. Easy access to Motorway, and exactly mid-way between two train stations, with frequent services to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Fitted, equipped kitchen, and carpeted throughout, this flat is easy to maintain. Shared garden to rear. Council Tax Band A. Please call to arrange viewing or to discuss. £325 per month”.
This was great news for us, since this was an unfurnised flat advertised at £325 a month, which would indicate out target rental of £350 a month for a furnised flat was realistic and obtainable.
